Sensible Montana Mission

Thank You Jack Herer, Rest In Peace...

Sensible Montana was founded by Montana professionals and parents to research, educate, and advocate for effective cannabis policy.

Our Mission:

Sensible Montana seeks to promote an effective cannabis policy through the following activities:

  1. Researching the public health, economic, social, criminal justice, and other effects of drug consumption and prohibition;
  2. Formulating innovative, economically-sound, practical drug-related regulations and policies;
  3. Working with the appropriate agencies of the Montana state government and municipalities to implement such appropriate policies; and
  4. Educating the public through speaking engagements, seminars, the mass media, and other means.

Our Vision:

Sensible Montana envisions a system where cannabis use becomes a health issue, not a crime issue, through innovative cannabis policy reform that focuses on prevention and harm reduction education, provides accessible treatment opportunities, and reduces incarcerations, crime, cannabis use by minors, and strains on the judicial system and police departments while increasing the resources available for health care and treatment.

Education

Education

We must provide science-based, effective education to our youth in the context of public health and promote personal responsibility and healthy decision-making. To equate the health effects of marijuana use to the health effects of other illicit drugs, such as cocaine, heroin, or methamphetamine, or the health effects of legal drugs, such as alcohol and tobacco, sends an inaccurate message to our youth, discrediting the anti-drug message and failing to reduce drug use.
